VW brand boss Diess wants to realign the model policy – and has to save.

At the same time, VW brand boss Herbert Diess announced a realignment of the model policy. This is intended to bring more electric cars and vehicles with plug-in hybrid drives onto the market. The Group’s modular system is now also being used for electric cars. “We are becoming more efficient, realigning the product range and core technologies and creating the scope for future-oriented technologies with the accelerated efficiency program,” said Diess.

For Europe and North America, according to VW, it was decided to completely switch diesel units to a more advanced and more expensive technology for exhaust gas cleaning “at the earliest possible point in time”.
